Montañas VacĂas P&P Challenge is a five-day, four-night supported off-road cycling challenge through the remote mountain landscapes of CastellĂłn. It is a point-to-point journey—not a race and not a fully self-supported bikepacking trip. After an arrival and preparation day at Casa Pedal & Pause, riders complete three stages from Barracas to Azuebar, Azuebar to Torrechiva, and Torrechiva to Montanejos, followed by a recovery and departure day.
The published stages total approximately 220 kilometres with more than 4,000 metres of climbing, crossing vĂas verdes, rugged mountain passes, pine and cork-oak forests, red-rock terrain, and isolated villages before finishing at the thermal waters of Fuente de Baños. A mountain bike is recommended; experienced riders may use a suitable gravel bike. The package is fully supported with a local guide, support van, luggage transfers, mechanical assistance, accommodation, breakfasts, dinners, and on-the-go snacks, so riders can focus on the challenge rather than carrying everything themselves.
• Accommodation at Casa Pedal & Pause and during the point-to-point route; exact sequence TBC.
• Travel logistics between Barracas and Montanejos.
• Luggage transfers.
• Breakfasts, dinners, and on-the-go snacks; exact counts TBC.
• Local guide and support van.
• Mechanical assistance.
Arrive at Casa Pedal & Pause for check-in, bike setup, and a complete route and safety briefing. Meet the local guide and support team, review the luggage-transfer plan, and make final equipment adjustments before the point-to-point journey begins. The focus is on making sure every rider and bike is ready for three demanding mountain stages.
Begin with the longest stage: approximately 102 kilometres and 1,260 metres of climbing from Barracas to Azuebar. The route follows the VĂa Verde de Ojos Negros before moving through rolling countryside, red-rock terrain, pine forest, and the foothills of the Sierra de Espadán. Luggage travels separately while the guide and support van accompany the journey.
The second stage is shorter but steeper, covering approximately 56 kilometres with 1,630 metres of climbing. Technical terrain leads deeper into the Sierra de Espadán, with sustained ascents, panoramic ridgelines, forested valleys, and remote villages along the way. Finish in Torrechiva, where transferred luggage and the evening’s accommodation await.
Complete the point-to-point route with approximately 52.5 kilometres and 1,380 metres of climbing. Pine forests and rocky mountain trails give way to the final descent into Montanejos. The reward is a recovery dip in the thermal waters of Fuente de Baños, marking the end of three challenging and contrasting stages.
Return to Casa Pedal & Pause for a recovery-focused final day. Reconnect with luggage, check bikes after the journey, and share the experience with the group before departure. Final meal and transfer timings will follow the confirmed event schedule.
